Industry Autopsy
Ma$e who? Murda Ma$e to be exact. He's back. And not with the Mr. Rodgers "Welcome Back" track. Nope! This time he's coming back with a diss track aimed at fellow Harlem artist Killa Cam aka Cam'ron. Now anyone who knows these two's history know that in the past there has been some sparring back and forth, mostly Cam'ron throwing the punches and Ma$e blocking them. But this time Cam'ron had dissed him too many times and it boiled over with Cam'ron's recent track "It's Killa" which sent Ma$e into the studio and on the offense. Let's see how the battle goes... Ma$e - The Oracle (Cam'ron diss) The Oracle starts off with no warm up. No talking. Just straight to the punches. "Pussy nigga wearin' pink I guess he think he matchin' I’ma paint the picture, let the niggas make the caption" Ma$e immediately goes after Cam'ron for wearing pink. He also alludes to the fact that he's about to paint a picture so that everybody knows the truth about Cam'ron. "Bitches used to say I’m blessed and I didn’t even sneeze first Much dirt as I got on you, don’t even need no research" These are two dope bars. "I'm blessed and I didn't even sneeze." Just thinking about this line is crazy. "I fuck the King of rap bitch when I was unsign And made the nigga Diddy sign me off of one line" Facts. Ma$e got signed after spitting a freestyle for P. Diddy. Just reminds you that Ma$e was a dope rapper. But probably one of the most disrespectful lines of this whole beef was this one: Cam'ron - Dinner Time (Ma$e diss) The thing about Cam'ron is that he has been known to go at people. He knows beef well. Period. So when Cam'ron dropped "Dinner Time" it was only right that Cam'ron do what he does. Clapback. "Time to get the facts across Ohh, somebody pissed the pastor off" Right out the gate Cam'ron starts talking about Ma$e's past. Ma$e was a rapper turned pastor, turned rapper, turned pastor, now rapper again. You can see how this would get confusing. "You done opened up a door, I'm petty, ready for war I ain't got a sister, only sister I fucked was yours" This was kind of a fact checker because on Ma$e's diss record he says that Cam'ron was having sex with his own sister. But actually.... Cam'ron doesn't have a sister but Ma$e has a twin sister named Stase. And Cam'ron shows why he is the king of being petty in these two bars. "Wolves on your ass though, I told them all to pardon ya Why you talking Harlem? You from Jacksonville, Florida" This is just straight facts. Ma$e was born in Jacksonville, Florida but moved to Harlem when he was 5. I think after being somewhere so long especially since 5, than you are from that place. That's where your style and swag all came from. So I would say he's raised in Harlem. "Only time they mention this nigga when it's retro Money gone, jewelry fake, you could hear an echo" I thought this was a clever line about Ma$e not being relevant anymore. "Any hood I go to, I'm accommodated What you mean I'm selling liquor now? You a jizzerk Forgot 10 years ago I gagged out on Sizzurp Oh Boy cologne, I was giving niggas that wizzork I ain't even spend that Killa Season money, man, you hit dirt" I think these last 5 bars are interesting because of the wordplay and the 'zzzerp' rhyme-scheme. Also the fact that it's just straight facts about how much of a business man Cam'ron is, whether that be selling liquor, cologne, or just album sales. There's now denying the footprint that Cam'ron has left on the game. This battle of Harlem titans is big for hip-hop. Theirs definetly some bad blood and history from the two so hopefully than keep it on wax. But if this was round 1 I think the win goes to Ma$e. I think Cam'ron has some great lines, but I think the production and his delivery just don't match Ma$e's. Ma$e's track "The Oracle" sounds like he is out for blood and throwing straight haymakers. And by the response of the streets Ma$e has drawn blood. The fact that Cam'ron said he wasn't out for bars on his response track just stating facts is irrelevant because he could've said all this on a podcast, but he choose to put it on a record and to a beat. Which means it takes all the elements of a great track to win. Time will only tell if Cam'ron comes back with a better track. But one thing is for sure is that Ma$e is not backing down from this fight. Winner Ma$e.....
