For many people family is everything. Most everything you learned from a young age came from family. From how your big cousin taught you how to spit game to a fine chic. To how your uncle taught you that everybody is not your friend and to watch the people that hang around you. To how you were taught to be a man and look people in their eyes and give a firm handshake. These are the lessons and many others that were learned from our first teachers, family. But these lessons were more than addition and subtraction, they were family values. Chris TheGod MC Cain is proving that family values is what really makes us, us. And his track "Closure" proves that family values is what made him. He starts out the track spittin': Kool-Aid with 6 scoops of sugar,
"Kool-Aid with 6 scoops of sugar", Chris TheGod MC Cain, spits this bar repeatedly throughout the track almost as a signal to the user that a lesson, a family value is coming. This is similar to how on Jeopardy that even a right answer is wrong if not first answering with "What is...", and the same example could be said for this song. Listen to one of these family values in the first verse he spits:
Aunty called me yesterday, she told me that she got some lean,
The 2nd verse feels like a battle. A battle between what? Many things, both good and bad. But a battle nonetheless. "Kool-Aid with 6 scoops of sugar, whole family diabetics, don't give that baby none it's too late she'll be energetic". This can be seen as a battle between the short-term satisfaction of a kid that wants kool-aid, versus the long-term consequences of contributing to factors that could lead to diabetes, something that runs in the family. "Momma in there tryna sleep, a week she workin' overtime. Sunday school is in the mornin', seen this little light of mine." In this example the short-term satisfaction of working overtime in order to provide for a family is battling the effects of working long nights and waking up early to make sure her kids go to church and hopefully grow up and find their way, a better way. And even more importantly is how a kid knows that they can't be too loud, because too loud means they wake their mother. For a kid this should be the hardest thing to do, but years of living it. has taught them not too.
"Closure", something we all hope for. And with this being the last track on the tape "God is Good" it sums up perfectly what Chris TheGod MC Cain was hoping to give him and the audience from this tape, CLOSURE.... So sit back and listen to one of my favorite MCs and his track "Closure".
