Covert Run is a band from Chicago that considers their style of music to be Alternative/Pop which can be heard in the tracks they select. The band consists of three members Daniel Kremer, Jack Lorenz, and John Penrod. And as you can see from their pictures above these musicians take their craft serious. So lets get to know the group a little.
Why do you make music? To bring people together, bring people closer to life, and to make the world a better place.
What do you want people to get from your music? We want people to get a better understanding of what it means to experience.
What's the meaning behind your debut single Floating? Floating is a combination of multiple experiences and feelings around certain events. The line "Floating" in the chorus is really meant for the listener to just figure where and when in their life they are "Floating" and what that means for them.
Now that you know a little bit more about Covert Run. Let's get into their debut single "Floating". The instrumentation of this track is what really sticks out. From the melodies to the chords down to the strumming of the guitar on the track seems very detailed and purposeful and really speaks to their musicianship. The chorus comes in like an explosion of sounds that are as powerful as the crashing waves described in the song. If I had to make a comparison to a something I've heard on the radio I would compare this track to Owl City's smash hit "Fireflies". I say this because of the nursery-like tone that the track starts with, to the building of the energy that is leads into the chorus. And having your song compared to a No. 1 hit is not bad, To be clear this "Floating" has the potential to be that smash hit for Covert Run.
